Today, technology has given birth to various kinds of home security systems, which have made our lives and home much more secure. These security systems detect any unwanted presence or activity in or out of our homes. Without these security systems, we are vulnerable to theft. There are different types of devices that are installed on walls, doors, outside walls of our homes, lockers, etc. If these devices detect any activity, they will trip an alarm, which will instantly notify you of unwanted activity or presence. Today, we are going to study about vibration detectors home security systems.

Today, we are going to study about vibration detectors home security systems.

What are vibrations Detectors?

The device is used to detect the vibrations, which are caused by any activity near or on the wall on which it is installed. The detector generates signal, which then trip the home security alarm; these signals are generated with the help of mechanical displacements, which sense the vibration and send the signal to main security system. The device is best suited near doors and window. The sensor can also be used near a locker or a safe as well.

Types of Vibration Sensors

The vibration sensors are of two categories- mechanical detection and acoustic sound detection. The mechanical detector detects physical movements and vibration, the probability of false alarm is also low. The acoustic sound detection comes with a microphone attached, which detects sound vibration. The probability of false alarms is high because it can be triggered very easily by any loud noise.

The type vibration detector depends upon its application and object.

  • Building Vibration Intrusion Detector- The vibrations are detected through the walls, when detected a signal is sent to the alarm system to trip the alarm.
  • Geo-sound vibration intrusion Detector- This detector detects the vibration, which are created by the vehicles and people on the ground.
  • Safe Vibration Intrusion Detector- When the safe is hit or opened abnormally, the alarm will go off by detecting the vibrations caused by that activity.

Here are few tips you should keep in mind while installing the vibrations sensors.

  • If you are installing the sensor on the wall, then the height of the sensor should be at least 2-2.5 meter from the ground.
  • The sensor should be installed in dry and cool environment.
  • If you want to install the sensor in the ground, the minimum depth should be 10cm for accurate working.
  • The sensor should be installed to a place where there is no source of any vibration. The vibration caused by generators, motors, cars, A/C, fan, etc. can also triggers the alarm.
  • The device should not be installed in a place with RF interference.

Now, you are fully aware of how a vibration sensor works, what are its types and the things that you should always keep in mind while installing the vibration sensors.
